Traditional Uses
A diuretic it was used as a general antiseptic and urinary antiseptic for cystitis, as an anti-inflammatory to relieve varicose veins, swollen lymph nodes and general circulation and lymph problems.
Used in skin care for dry skin conditions it soothes, cools and moisturises while relieving skin inflammations. Believed to reduce signs of aging by promoting the production of proteins in skin that stop the oxidation process and reverse associated damage which causes aging.
In Ayuvedic Medicine Sandalwood is considered cooling in nature and will relieve hot inflamed conditions and reduce catarrh. For bronchial problems and sore throats it was used at a very low dilution as a gargle.
