The Beginning
Based in the lush, tropical jungle of the Djabugay and Buluwai People of Far North Queensland, Meleuka and Rahm have been Inspired by their Elders to learn about Indigenous Plant medicine. They have been wild harvesting essential oils and making organic products since 2011. REO is a social enterprise focused on harnessing the medicinal properties of essential oils and herbs to make organic alternatives to synthetic products.
Honouring traditional plant medicines the Balms are an Organic fusion of Ayurvedic medicine, European herbalism and Australian botanicals.
Developed by their Master Herbalist with over 40 years experience, Rare Earth products are an essential part of your medicine cabinet.
As with any great venture, it all started with a wing and a prayer - and a lot of hard work.
We set out to create a social enterprise that would create resources for our not-for-profit, that was in alignment with our ethos working with culture and the environment. The early days were spent dragging heavy potato sacks full of fresh eucalyptus leaves to our still, then back to the lab to turn into wellness products. The response was amazing; people really appreciated what we were doing and loved the products.
From the early days dragging sacks of hand picked leaves, we now send our wild harvested oils and wellness products all over the world.
The Foundation
Rare Earth Oils is a social enterprise that has been created by the Rare Earth Foundation to create economic activity that supports language and cultural projects with Indigenous Families.
We also provide business mentoring for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
With your help we are creating partnerships with Indigenous communities to create more Australian native essential oils.

Rare Earth Foundation run a series of projects focused around youth empowerment. Projects aim to create strong leaders, increase confidence and help young people make good life decisions. Using positive role model reinforcement and identifying core triggers, Rare Earth’s projects reduce anti social behaviour, reduce minor crime, violence and substance abuse.
The ancient tradition of storytelling is at the heart of the human experience. Rare Earth Cultural Heritage projects work with elders and communities to create media resources for historical purposes and celebrate the magic of Aboriginal culture.
